LANTANA CRAFT FROM SOLIGAS

Lantana is one of the world’s most invasive weeds. It is used as a substitute for native species such as bamboo and cane and strengthening the livelihood of Soliga tribal community. No-cost and simple skills are used to empower the community.Simple technique of bending Lantana stems, which made it possible to make a range of products like baskets, furniture, toys, utilities, ornaments. The soligas also extract honey from the forest hives.

Pattachitra from Odisha

Pattachitra (Patta means cloth, Chitra mean painting) is the traditional art indigenous to Odisha, depicting Hindu Mythology. Chitrakars (Pattachitra artisans) use natural colours and materials to produce that fascinatingly intricate art that captures every single detail of that folktale & the characters. The art dates back 1000+ years, is still kept alive and fresh with a group of artisans dedicatedly pursuing their heritage and passion.
