BR hills is the abode to Biligiri Ranganathaswamy temple and a picturesque wildlife sanctuary with exotic flora and fauna. It is also the home to now a handful of indigenous native community.The soliga- forest dwellers living through generations co-existing harmoniously with the wild. Their livelihood is dependent on coffee & spices sourced from the forest. Soligas worship nature as god and Dodda Sampige Mara a 1000 year old Champaka tree still yielding flowers is their sacred grove. It is standing magnificent & imperial inside a thick protected forest sheltering thousands of birds and giving fragrance to the forest
